Catholic Youth Ministry
The Archdiocese of New York is committed to reaching out to and providing for the ministerial needs of middle and high school youth leaders.
Therefore, Catholic Youth Ministry in the Catechetical Office:
- Empowers and affirms directors and coordinators of religious education, youth ministers, catechists, pastors, priests, religious sisters, parents and all those working with youth in our parishes and schools by providing spiritual formation, training, support, networking, and youth ministry resources.
- Fosters the coordination of youth ministry programs throughout the Archdiocese and facilitates participation in programs at the national level.
In this ministry, we join the Church to promote responsible discipleship through:
- Personal and spiritual growth leading to communion and intimacy with Jesus Christ.
- A strong faith foundation for youth, which includes knowledge of scripture, the Catholic tradition, and formative opportunities to apply this faith to their daily lives as a life-long process.
- Leadership development, community life, prayer, worship, justice, service, and peer evangelization.
