Catechetical Leadership Program
An academic program for Coordinators of Religious Education, it consists of courses in theology and catechetics as well as in catechetical administration. It is a necessary component of the certification process for the Coordinator.
Christology
24 hours; 8 sessions
provides an overview for the catechetical leader of the church's understanding of the person and mission of Jesus as revealed in the Gospels and in the Tradition of the Church.
Morality
21 hours; 7 sessions
presents the basic tenets of Catholic morality and helps the catechetical leader understand what liviing according to that morality means in the context of our contemporary world. It explores with the catechetical leader the tools or criteria of judgment necessary for moral decision making in a Catholic context.
The Church: Its History and Worship
provides a survey in three parts of the development of the Church as affected by sociological, political and historical factors and the historical development of each of the Sacraments.

Development of the Christian Person
30 hours; 10 sessions
seeks to give the catechetical leader an understanding of the development of the Christian person according to Catholic spirituality and human psychology. The following areas of human development are studied: psychological, intellectual, spiritual and moral. The course also offers an understanding of the role of family in the individual's development.
Catechetical Administration
30 hours; 10 sessions
builds on the foundation of the Basic Training Course to provide the catechetical leader with expanded skills for program administration, supervision and collaborative leadership. The course situates catechetical practice within its historical and theoretical framework, within a multi-cultural context and within an an understanding of personal leadership styles.
Communication Skills
21 hours; 7 sessions
provides the catechetical leader with those skills necessary for effective administration such as listening skills, interview method, group management, effective oral and written communication, public speaking, conflict management. The students practice these skills by developing the resources and materials needed in their own parish programs.
Classes are held once a week. Students should expect several hours of homework a week.
