Rite of Election Invitation

Dear Pastor and Parish Catechumenate (RCIA) Coordinator,
His Excellency Archbishop Timothy Dolan invites those catechumens who are ready to celebrate the sacraments of Christian initiation this Easter to formally celebrate the Rite of Election on Sunday, February 21, 2010 at the Cathedral of Saint Patrick, New York City.
All catechumens of the Archdiocese of New York, along with their godparents, are invited to attend the Rite of Election at the Cathedral. Reserved seating will be provided for the catechumens, their godparents and the parish Catechumenate coordinators. This will leave us about 1000 unreserved seats for guests and families who might wish to attend.
You must register your Catechumens in advance. The preparation for this celebration is extensive and so we must have your registration from in by February 5, 2010. If your registration form is not in by the 5th of February, we will not be able to include your Parish name in the booklet or call out the names of your parish catechumens.
Beginning Monday, January 4, 2010, registration is online. Registered parishes for the Cathedral Rites will receive their seat assignment by February 16, 2010.
We also invite each parish attending the Rite of Election to send a parish volunteer to assist at the Rite. Please note that the Parish Hospitality Volunteer should not normally be a godparent.
