Neophyte Mass Invitation

January 2010

Dear Pastor and Parish Catechumenate (RCIA) Coordinator,

His Excellency Archbishop Timothy Dolan invites all Neophytes who were fully initiated through the Sacraments of Christian initiation (Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist) this Easter throughout the Archdiocese of New York, to join him for the annual Neophyte Mass at St. Patrick’s Cathedral on Sunday, May 16th at 10:15am.

The period after their initiation is a special time for the Neophytes. It is a time to explore in a fuller and more effective way the “mysteries” they have experienced. It is a time for the Church and the neophytes to gather in order to deepen their grasp of the paschal mystery so that they may be strengthened in their sharing of the Eucharist and in doing works of charity.

To show this pastoral concern for the new members of the Church in the Archdiocese of New York, the Archbishop invites all parishes to register in advance their Neophytes for the Neophyte Mass. Registration is online. Registration is online until Friday, April 30, 2010.

The Neophytes will be invited to participate in the opening procession of the Neophyte Mass with Archbishop Dolan. They may bring with them their baptismal candle and baptismal garb. There will be reserved seats only for the Neophyte and one parish representative.

After registration, the reserved seating tickets for the Neophytes will be sent to the parish catechumenate coordinator with more information concerning arrival time and location.

If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact Daisy Guevara at the Catechetical Office at 646-794-2692 or at estela.guevara@archny.org.

We look forward to being with you and your Neophytes and, of course, Archbishop Dolan on May 16th.

Sincerely,

Sister Joan Curtin  Mr. Oscar Cruz
