Welcome to Online Learning

So you have decided to take an online course.  That's great.  Get yourself up and running in our online classroom.  This page will help you in:

Creating an Account (a one-time process for those who have never taken a Sakai/iLearn course):

  1. Go to the Catechetical Office website www.nyfaithformation.org.
  2. Scroll down to bottom; click the link for Sakai-iLearn.
  3. You will see Collaborative Learning Environment.
  4. Under “Students,” click Create an Account.
  5. Complete the form – don’t forget to click on submit!
  6. You will receive an e-mail when your account is created (about 30 minutes). Make sure your email account does not block mail from no-reply@sakai.archny.geminiodyssey.org.

Registering for a Course (for those who have an account):

  1. Go to the Catechetical Office website www.nyfaithformation.org.
  2. Scroll down to bottom; click the link for Sakai-iLearn.
  3. You will see Collaborative Learning Environment.
  4. Under “Students,” click Course Registration.
  5. Enter your user name and password.
  6. Click on Register for Classes (in blue) from the Quicklinks.
  7. Step 1: Select Level I or Level II.
  8. Step 2: Select the course.
  9. Step 3: Select the section (starting date of course).
  10. Click “Enroll into selected courses.”
  11. Repeat Steps 7 to 10 as necessary.
  12. You will receive an email confirmation as long as your email account does not block mail from no-reply@sakai.archny.geminiodyssey.org. 

Retrieving a Forgotten Password

  1. Go to the Catechetical Office website www.nyfaithformation.org.
  2. Scroll down to bottom; click the link for Sakai-iLearn.
  3. You will see Collaborative Learning Environment.
  4. Under “Students,” click Forgot Password.
  5. Fill in your username and email address for your account. Click “Reset Password.”
  6. You will be emailed a temporary password as your email account does not block mail from no-reply@sakai.archny.geminiodyssey.org.
  7. Change the password to one that suits you. 

Changing your Password

  1. Go to the Catechetical Office website www.nyfaithformation.org. 
  2. Scroll down to bottom; click the link for Sakai-iLearn.
  3. You will see Collaborative Learning Environment.
  4. Under “Students,” click Change Password.
  5. Log in with your user name and the current password.
  6. Click on Change your password (in blue) from the Quicklinks.
  7. Type in your old (current) Password, and then the new password twice. Click “Save.”

Entering the Online Classroom

  1. Go to the Catechetical Office website www.nyfaithformation.org.
  2. Scroll down to bottom; click the link for Sakai-iLearn.
  3. You will see Collaborative Learning Environment.
  4. Under “Students,” click Sakai Login
  5. Log in with your user name and password.
  6. You will be in “My Workspace.”
  7. Click on My Sites at the top right.
  8. This will bring you to your current and past course(s).
